Into the Heart of Isaiah - Tom Wright

For centuries Christians have turned to Isaiah to understand Jesus. Yet too often we have read its great prophecies as isolated predictions, rather than as part of the sweeping story God was telling through Israel. Tom Wright invites you to take a deep dive into 'The Fifth Gospel' (Isaiah Chapters 40-55), drawing out its vital importance for understanding the mission of Jesus and demonstrating its enduring relevance for Christians today. In Into the Heart of Isaiah, Tom Wright guides readers through Isaiah 40-55, the so-called "Fifth Gospel", revealing its central importance for understanding Jesus, the early church and the mission of God's people today. Reading these chapters as one unfolding drama, Wright explores Isaiah's vision of exile and homecoming, Israel's God returning to Zion, the strange vocation of the suffering Servant, the renewal of covenant and the promise of new creation. With his characteristic clarity and depth, Wright shows how these themes come to their climax in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus - and how they continue to shape the church's calling in the power of the Spirit.
