He knows that the Roman Empire, which extends to land in sight of Britannia's southern coast, is a potential threat to the ways of the tribes. Yet the Britons see only their immediate enemies, each other, as they battle over patches of land, following traditional rules of combat. It falls to Caratacus to train his men in new tactics then fight for supremacy across the tribes at the head of the most powerful army Britannia has ever seen. Facing hostile forces set on obstructing his every move, Caratacus grows ever more ruthless, ready to commit terrible deeds, and turn against even family, in pursuit of his goal.
