New and Collected Poems - Jeffrey Wainwright

A career-spanning collection from one of England's finest living poets, this volume gathers work from Wainwright's nine Carcanet collections alongside striking new poems. Author of the international bestseller Poetry: The Basics (Routledge) and a leading figure of the Leeds School of Poets with Geoffrey Hill, Tony Harrison, and Jon Silkin, Wainwright writes lyrically about the capacity and limit of human engagement with the world around us. These poems move effortlessly across time and place, from the streets of Manchester and his native Stoke, to the landscapes of Italy, meditating on mortality, memory and returning. This collection offers a lifetime of thought, feeling, and craft from one of the UK's much-loved poets.
