How Strange the Son - Emery Blaine

Prequel novella to The Symphonic Masquerade series, How Strange the Son explores the tale of Uruji Thasian-nee before the events of Where the Silence Sings. This series is an epic, character-driven journey about identity, secrets, and adventurous exploration set against a sci-fantasy backdrop. The fragile axis of power is shifting, and Uruji Thasian-nee would rather be sat back at his workbench, studying the threads of alica that twist through all variety of crystal and ore. At least there no one threatens to put him or anyone else to permanent rest. Asked (or ordered, rather) to go and negotiate a deal in a desolate corner of the Orinian realm, Uruji Thasian-nee travels far from home with his father Jourae and ward, the Praetor's son, Seraeyu Thasian. What he comes to find is that even a glittering empire has its faults, and these lines are about to crack wide open. The Symphonic Masquerade series is perfect for fans at the cross-section of the Final Fantasy franchise, N. K. Jemisin, and Joe Abercrombie.
