Violet Munson, preparing her family’s seaside cottage for sale, is haunted by an inescapable sense of dread and a chilling presence. While sorting through generations of heirlooms, she uncovers evidence that links her late husband’s lineage to a dark, murderous past. Determined to expose the truth, Violet makes a choice that costs her life. Cut off by a rising storm and working without jurisdiction, Cammie must race to catch a killer intent on protecting a family legacy at any cost. Back in Twin Ponds, her department uncovers a hidden skeleton tied to an infamous sixty-year-old cold case. Two investigations, separated by water, converge on secrets long buried—and someone will kill to keep them hidden. If Cammie fails, she risks not only her badge but the lives of those she loves.
